Visit Mykonos Windmills
Mykonos is known by its nickname “The Island of the Winds,” so expect to encounter quite a few of them. Because of that, this island also had a great number of old windmills and many of them still stand today. The area of Kato Mili has about 10 of these windmills, so make sure you see them. If you want to see how these old windmills used to work, try going to Bonis Mill. It’s a renovated old building you can enter and observe the whole process from the inside. You have to visit Mykonos windmills and admire their unique beauty.
Petros the Pelican
Have you heard about Petros the Pelican? It’s one of the most famous mascots of Mykonos, though he is unfortunately not with us anymore. He was found injured in the late 1950s by the local fishermen in Mykonos. They helped him recover and, in turn, he stayed on the island with the locals and quickly became a beloved figure. Unfortunately, he was killed in a car accident in 1985, but his spirit lives on. Since then, there have been numerous other pelicans on Mykonos dubbed Petros. If you visit Mykonos, there’s a good chance you’ll stumble upon some of these majestic creatures.
